Palinka Might Be Official Product In Transylvania

Currently, it's only can be used in Hungary and Austria
Representatives of the Transylvanian Eau-de-Vie Knighthood are hoping that “palinka” (Eau-de-vie) product name soon could be official in Transylvania, as well, wrote the Transylvanian Hungarian newspaper Kronika.
The Transylvanian Eau-de-Vie Knighthood and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture have met to prepare a request to the European Union in order to protect the origin of the Eau-de-vies made in Transylvania.
Palinka makers wish that the name of palinka could be used overall in the historical Hungarian regions of Northern and Western Romania, more specifically in Transylvania, Banat and Partium. However, currently, it's only can be used in Hungary and Austria.
